The Notices for Inverters Installation Envirnoment

The Notices for Inverters Installation Envirnoment

(1)        Temperature

The same as other electrical device, there is a certain temperature condition for inverters, normally range from -10~+40℃. Inverter is easily to be affected by the working temperature, as it’s a high-power electrical appliance. For the safety and liability of the inverter operation, the temperature should be under 40℃; when it’s between 40℃ and 50℃, the rated output current should reduce for 1% after 1℃ rising of the temperature. The insulativity of the inverter will be greated reduced under the high temperature or the temperature which changes greatly. Hence the service life of the inverter will be decreased.

(2)        Humidity

The same as other electrical device, there is a certain humidity condition for inverters. The humidity of the inverters working envirnoment should be under 95% (no condesation). Desiccant and/or heater should be used when it’s necessary.

(3)        Corrosive Gas

The lead wire and printed circuit board of the components will be corroded, the aging of the plastic components will be accelerated and the insulation performance will be worse.

(4)        Vibration and Shock

Vibration and clash should be avoided under inverter operation. Otherwise the welding spot, connecting devices like screw will be loose or come off. Hence serious default will be caused by poor contact or short circuit. So, mechanical strength in the control cabinet should be improved, vibration and clash should be avoided under inverter operation. Apart from that, we should also add anti-shock rubber mat in the control cabinet, add buffer rubber mat between the components in cabinet and the mounting plate. We should do the check and maintenance for the cabinet after the machine operates for a while.

(5)        Electrical Envirnoment

l  Avoiding electromagnetic interference

The main part for an inverter is the power module and the circuit of its control system. Under the influence of the electromagnetic interference, operating accidents like circuit malfunction and software program failure will happen. Avoiding these to happen, there should be precautions accordingly. For example: it’s better to keep a distance for the input wire, output motor line, and the control line; the devices and signal lines which can be easily affected should be as far away as possible; it’s better to use shield cable for the critical signal lines, 360° protective earthing is recommended.

l  Avoiding overvoltage of the input terminal

The main circuit for the inverter is composed of power electronic devices. These devices are extremely sensetive to overvoltage. Permanent damage would be caused by overvoltage of the input terminal. Like some factory which uses generators for power, they might have a bigger power fluctuation. So it would be better to have some precautions against the overvoltage.

(6)        Altitude

Inverters can operate under the rated output power under the altitude of 1000 meters. But its power would come down when the altitude is above 1000 meters.

(7)        Others

l  Inverters shall not be installed in places with rain drops or dew;

l  Avoid the invasion of dust, cotton fibre and metal filing;

l  Inverters should not be installed in places with lots of greasy dirt or salty places;

l  Inverters should be kept away from radioactive substances.
